About the Housekeeping Supervisor Role

Marriott International is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor for a full-time position in Riyadh and Ad Dir'iyah. This role involves overseeing the cleanliness and quality standards of guest rooms, public areas, and facilities. The supervisor manages daily housekeeping operations, coordinates with various departments, and supports management in employee development and operational efficiency. Candidates should have 0-1 years of relevant experience.

Core Responsibilities

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for ensuring high standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency. Key duties include:

  • Inspecting guest rooms, public areas, and the pool to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
  • Managing the daily activities of Housekeeping and Laundry staff.
  • Coordinating efforts and communication between Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, and Laundry departments.
  • Identifying and resolving issues related to discrepant room statuses with the Front Desk.
  • Assisting management with various human resources functions, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, counseling, discipline, and employee motivation.

Operational Duties and Coordination

This role involves detailed operational tasks to maintain service quality and efficiency:

  • Running sold room reports, verifying room status, determining discrepant rooms, prioritizing cleaning, and updating departing guest room statuses.
  • Preparing, distributing, and communicating changes in room assignments to Housekeeping staff.
  • Documenting and communicating outstanding issues to the next shift and completing required paperwork, including reports, worksheets, and activity logs.
  • Identifying and reporting preventative or other maintenance issues in public areas or guest rooms, and contacting Engineering for urgent repairs.
  • Responding promptly to requests from guests, the Front Desk, or At Your Service.
  • Entering guest rooms following established access procedures and reporting missing property or damages to management.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and condition of assigned areas meet designated standards using checklists, and selecting appropriate cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE) according to regulations.
  • Completing incident reports for any occurrences during the shift.

Safety, Security, and Policy Adherence

Adherence to safety, security, and company policies is paramount in this role:

  • Reporting work-related accidents or injuries immediately to management.
  • Identifying and correcting unsafe work procedures or conditions, or reporting them to management and security/safety personnel.
  • Following Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, including the use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Complying with all company and department safety, security, and emergency policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining awareness of property premises to identify and address any undesirable persons.
  • Utilizing proper equipment, wearing appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employing correct lifting procedures.
  • Protecting the privacy and security of guests and coworkers, maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information, and safeguarding company assets.
  • Ensuring uniform, nametags, and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional, and compliant with company policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates for this role should possess the following qualifications and demonstrate proficiency in key areas:

  • 0-1 years of experience in a relevant hospitality or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability to address guests' service needs professionally, positively, and in a timely manner, including active listening, welcoming guests, and anticipating their needs.
  • Strong communication skills, including speaking to guests and coworkers using clear, appropriate, and professional language, and exchanging information effectively.
  • Capability to assist management in assigning tasks, serving as a departmental role model, motivating employees, ensuring resources and training, and monitoring compliance with company standards.
  • A collaborative approach to working with others, supporting coworkers, treating them with dignity and respect, handling sensitive issues with tact and confidentiality, and promoting teamwork.
  • Commitment to quality assurance expectations and standards, including monitoring the performance of others to ensure adherence.

Physical Demands

The role of Housekeeping Supervisor requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including:

  • Moving, lifting, carrying, and placing objects weighing up to 55 pounds without assistance, and over 55 pounds with assistance.
  • Pushing and pulling a loaded housekeeping cart and other work-related machinery over various surfaces.
  • Reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Standing, sitting, kneeling, or walking for extended periods throughout a work shift.
  • Grasping, turning, and manipulating objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Entering and locating work-related information using computers and/or point-of-sale systems, and reading and visually verifying information in various formats.
  • Moving at a speed required to respond to work situations and visually inspecting tools, equipment, or machines.
  • Navigating narrow, confined, or elevated spaces, and moving over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, including stairs and ramps.
  • Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills, with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
