Electrical Technician

About the Role

Acwa is seeking an Electrical Technician to join their team in Afif. This full-time position involves executing various maintenance activities on plant equipment under the direction of an Electrical Supervisor or Engineer. The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols and focuses on ensuring the efficient operation of power and desalination plants.

Role Overview

The Electrical Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance, as well as annual outage and overhauling work. This includes troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, and ensuring proper isolation procedures are followed before commencing maintenance activities. The technician will work closely with the Electrical Supervisor and local operators to maintain plant equipment effectively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all duties are performed safely, efficiently, and effectively, complying with NOMAC safety rules and regulations.
• Execute all plant maintenance activities in a timely and safe manner, adhering strictly to maintenance procedures and work instructions.
• Document maintenance concerns and history for assigned equipment.
• Report required spare parts and consumables to the Electrical Supervisor/Engineer and monitor spare parts availability.
• Ensure proper isolations are carried out before starting maintenance activities, in coordination with the Electrical Supervisor and local operator.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and perform maintenance on electrical equipment within jurisdiction.
• Interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings related to plant equipment.
• Install, adjust, inspect, service, and repair various static and rotating electrical equipment in power and desalination plants.
• Perform all necessary preparations for electrical maintenance in assigned equipment/areas.
• Maintain a working knowledge of equipment operation and associated operating systems.
• Implement 5S housekeeping practices in the work area.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a relevant electrical technician role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical equipment issues.
• Ability to perform maintenance on static and rotating electrical equipment.

Work Environment

This position is full-time and requires readiness to work in a remote location in Afif. The role involves working within industrial plant settings, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols and maintenance procedures.
