About the Opportunity

SASREF is seeking a Lead Corrosion Engineer to join its team in Al Jubail, Eastern region. This full-time role is central to implementing robust corrosion control strategies, involving the analysis and interpretation of corrosion survey data and the monitoring of equipment corrosion. The position requires 5-10 years of experience and offers excellent and competitive compensation packages, aligning with SASREF's strategic priorities for profit, safety, reliability, and environmental compliance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review process parameters and plant performance to facilitate discussions with production teams regarding corrosion/erosion issues and potential problems.
  • Collaborate with inspectors to define required data, data collection methodologies, and templates.
  • Analyze high corrosion rate trends and related survey information to determine causes of potential corrosion and make necessary adjustments to Inspection Operating Windows (IOWs).
  • Introduce and update new IOWs as required, based on observations and analysis.
  • Provide advanced support to the area lead inspection engineer for complex corrosion cases requiring detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and potential engagement with external specialists.
  • Ensure Corrosion related Lessons From Incidents (LFIs) are collected, studied, and discussed with the Inspection team to enhance awareness and prevent recurrence.
  • Accommodate internal or external assessments/audits of SASREF's integrity management system and manage the associated action tracking process.
  • Lead, motivate, develop, and assess the assigned team to achieve business objectives and enhance capability.

Integrity Management and Project Involvement

  • Maintain and update the Corrosion Control Manuals (RBI reports) for all Operating Units at SASREF.
  • Lead periodic discussions with SPIRIT teams to ensure the agreed implementation of all RBI recommendations.
  • Review Management of Change (MOC) proposals concerning corrosion and metallurgy, providing advice for optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in the review of project packages with respect to corrosion during design basis scoping, project proposal, and detailed design phases.
  • Engage in the commissioning, start-up, and testing of any new corrosion monitoring systems.
  • Contribute significantly to establishing and maintaining the integrity management system for static equipment by developing missing inspection strategies and overseeing implementation plans.
  • Offer practical recommendations based on collected data, trend analysis, and conducted studies to prevent corrosion and maximize plant integrity.
  • Collaborate with other engineering groups to provide data, information, and recommendations for activities such as facility modifications, corrosion programs, chemical treatment processes, and chemical injection applications.
  • Review and update proposed changes to corrosion standards, procedures, and manuals.
  • Participate in identifying, planning, and implementing opportunities for work process improvement.

Safety and Cybersecurity Compliance

  • Ensure that all business processes and work activities relevant to the position are executed in compliance with SASREF policy, procedures, and best practices to achieve objectives safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
  • Maintain personal safety and well-being measures, ensuring actions do not jeopardize the safety of others.
  • Adhere strictly to all IOWs, Safe Operating Procedures, and Safe Work Instructions to prevent Workplace (WPS) and Process Safety Management (PSM) incidents.
  • Comply consistently with the SASREF HSE Policy, the 5 Safety Principles, and 8 Golden Safety Rules.
  • Uphold SASREF’s cybersecurity posture by implementing security best practices.
  • Strictly adhere to all cybersecurity requirements when handling SASREF’s assets and data.
  • Comply at all times with SASREF’s information security policies.

Required Experience

Candidates for the Lead Corrosion Engineer position should possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience. This is a full-time role offering excellent and competitive compensation packages.
