About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a Chemist to join their team in Medina, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves conducting laboratory analysis, testing samples, and evaluating results to support the establishment of plant operational parameters. The Chemist will ensure efficient testing and sampling in compliance with company policies, quality standards, and HSE procedures. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, check, and register samples, then develop accurate and timely reports on test results according to planned schedules.
• Stay informed about regulatory requirements concerning environmental compliance, plant chemicals, MSDS, plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, and emergency operation procedures.
• Interpret test results to help establish optimum operational parameters for current operations and long-term plant integrity.
• Provide process-related assistance to the Operations team on matters affecting plant process and performance to maximize yield.
• Support internal and external Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental audits, and implement corrective actions.
• Confirm yearly third-party calibration of lab instruments as per IMS requirements.
• Investigate operational problems related to chemical and physical analysis and submit recommendations to the Chief Chemist.
• Maintain adequate stock of all chemical consumables (bulk and fine chemicals, glassware) and dosing and testing equipment.

• Contribute to the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programs, and projects in line with organizational standards.
• Adhere to all relevant organizational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions.
• Comply with all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a relevant chemistry role.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct lab analysis and interpret results.
• Understanding of environmental compliance and safety procedures.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Medina, Saudi Arabia, within a plant environment. The role involves working closely with the Operations team and adhering to strict quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.

Additional Duties

The Chemist may be required to perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
