Job Summary

ARX | Smart Minds is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for a full-time position in Medina, Saudi Arabia. This role requires an experienced structural engineer with strong capabilities in reviewing structural and reinforcement shop drawings for major transport infrastructure and reinforced-concrete projects. The ideal candidate will verify contractor submissions against approved designs, project specifications, and applicable standards, ensuring detailing accuracy, constructability, interdisciplinary coordination, and timely resolution of review comments. The position demands strong technical judgment, clear written communication, practical coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple submissions within established timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Review structural general arrangement, concrete outline, and reinforcement shop drawings against approved Issued for Construction drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Check bar bending schedules, verifying bar marks, diameters, spacing, quantities, shapes, bending details, and consistency with reinforcement drawings.
• Verify reinforcement detailing, including concrete cover, laps, anchorage, development lengths, couplers, links, confinement reinforcement, reinforcement around openings, and joint detailing.
• Review detailing for foundations, pile caps, piers, abutments, beams, slabs, walls, underpasses, station structures, and other assigned structural elements.
• Identify reinforcement congestion, dimensional discrepancies, missing information, and construction sequencing issues, coordinating resolutions with contractors and designers.
• Check structural interfaces with architectural, road, drainage, utilities, MEP, and other discipline drawings, including openings, sleeves, embedded items, anchor bolts, and cast-in components.
• Raise technical queries, review contractor RFIs, and refer proposed design changes to the responsible designer for assessment and approval.
• Prepare clear review comments, check revised submissions, and track comment closure within agreed turnaround times.
• Coordinate with design, construction, QA/QC, and document-control teams to resolve drawing discrepancies and support site queries.
• Maintain drawing review registers, revision records, submission trackers, and comment logs to ensure traceable review and approval records.
• Review structural as-built submissions against approved drawings, RFIs, site changes, and accepted revisions.
• Recommend drawing dispositions in line with delegated approval procedures and project document-control workflows.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 to 12 years of relevant structural engineering experience, with substantial hands-on experience reviewing structural and reinforcement shop drawings.
• Demonstrated experience on bridges, transport infrastructure, viaducts, underpasses, stations, or comparable reinforced-concrete infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of reinforcement detailing, bar bending schedules, reinforced-concrete construction methods, constructability, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Ability to interpret structural calculations, design drawings, specifications, technical reports, IFC drawings, RFIs, and contractor technical submissions.
• Familiarity with the Saudi Building Code and relevant ACI, AASHTO, Eurocodes, British Standards, or other standards specified for infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PDF drawing review tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with BIM coordination tools, model review workflows, and electronic document management or common data environment systems is an advantage.
• Previous Saudi Arabia or GCC infrastructure project experience is preferred.
• Strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to identify detailing, sequencing, and constructability issues.
• Clear written review comments and effective professional communication in English.
• Ability to manage multiple submissions, coordinate with contractors and designers, and meet drawing review deadlines.
