Baker Lead

About the Role

Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Baker Lead to join their team in Medina, Al Madinah. This full-time role involves overseeing the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and supporting kitchen management. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare breads and pastries, including doughs, fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating.
• Review production sheets to understand daily baked goods requirements.
• Cook and prepare food according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Maintain kitchen logs for compliance with food safety programs.
• Inform the Chef of excess food items for daily special planning.
• Utilize baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances safely and appropriately.
• Ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene.
• Monitor and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting issues to management.
• Oversee the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.

Leadership and Operational Support

• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
• Serve as a role model and mentor within the department.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
• Complete all required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
• Communicate professionally and answer telephones with appropriate etiquette.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships and support team goals.
• Handle sensitive issues with tact, respect, and confidentiality.
• Comply with quality expectations and standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Capability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
