Shift Charge Engineer

About the Role

Acwa is seeking a Shift Charge Engineer to join their team in Al Madinah Al Manwarah (Medina). This full-time role involves overseeing and managing operational activities during shifts, monitoring performance, and providing technical support to ensure the efficiency, productivity, and safety of the plant while achieving production targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise shift team activities to ensure targets, objectives, and business plans are met in line with policies and procedures.
• Monitor plant performance and provide operational engineering support for process-related matters to ensure optimal plant operations.
• Oversee day-to-day activities of shift staff and manage all plant operating activities, ensuring safe and efficient execution to meet operational targets.
• Review work instructions, SOPs, processes, and procedures, recommending changes to the Operations Manager for efficiency and resource optimization.
• Monitor operational performance, make quick decisions to correct abnormalities, and take corrective actions during emergencies.
• Coordinate with other departments for plant operations activities during the shift, ensuring timely execution.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance team during shifts for minor/major activities like commissioning and start-up, ensuring safe completion as per plan.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSSE and permit-to-work systems, instructions, controls, and procedures to guarantee employee safety and environmental compliance.
• Develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal departments and external contractors, addressing critical technical issues promptly.
• Represent the plant in technical meetings to resolve escalated technical matters.
• Administer SAP processes within operations, ensuring adherence to guidelines for planning, scheduling, data management, and work order creation.
• Ensure all system documents are up to date to comply with quality standards.
• Monitor adherence to health, safety, security, and environmental procedures.
• Ensure proper reporting of all accidents, incidents, or near misses during the shift.
• Manage emergencies during the shift according to the company response plan until relieved.
• Adhere to all relevant organizational and departmental policies, processes, and procedures.
• Contribute to the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform any other duties as required by the line manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required for this role.

Working Relationships

The Shift Charge Engineer will work closely with the Operations Manager, Shift Supervisors, CCR Operators/Engineers, Chief/Shift Chemist, Planning Engineer, Maintenance Team, HSE Engineer, Purchaser, and Storekeeper.
