About International Maritime Industries
International Maritime Industries is seeking an Inspector I Welding QC to join their team in Ras Tannurah, Eastern region. This is a full-time position for professionals with 5-10 years of experience in quality control and welding inspection.
Role Overview
The Inspector I Welding QC will be responsible for conducting inspections related to the qualification of welders and welding operators, as well as witnessing welding activities. This role involves monitoring and documenting welder qualification and Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) processes, and providing technical support to project teams to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Training & Development (T&D) team to witness welder and procedure qualifications, ensuring compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and established procedures.
- Verify welder identity and confirm scheduling for the correct qualification test.
- Ensure joint design, dimensions, and test coupons are prepared according to relevant codes (*, ASME, AWS, ISO).
- Document welding parameters such as current, voltage, travel speed, preheat, and inter-pass temperatures, reporting any deviations or issues immediately for corrective action.
- Inspect weld appearance for defects including cracks, porosity, undercut, and incomplete fusion.
- Arrange destructive tests (bend, tensile, impact) or Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (RT, UT, MT, PT) as required by code.
- Assist in compiling the PQR, including all essential variables, test results, and observations, and provide inspection data to support the welding engineer in finalizing or revising WPS.
- Ensure welder qualification certificates and PQRs are properly filed and traceable to test coupons.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in welding inspection and quality control.
- Demonstrated knowledge of welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ISO, etc.).
- Proficiency in documenting inspection data and reporting deviations.
- Experience with both destructive and non-destructive testing methods.
Work Environment
This full-time position is based in Ras Tannurah, within the Eastern region, and involves working closely with the T&D team and project teams to maintain high standards of welding quality and compliance.
