MEP Team Leader

About the Role

Artelia Middle-East is seeking an experienced MEP Team Leader to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities across a portfolio of infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on the Water/Wastewater Sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Electrical and Mechanical engineers, providing technical leadership, and ensuring project delivery meets quality, programme, and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Electrical and Mechanical engineering team across multiple projects.
• Plan and allocate engineering resources based on project priorities, workload, and delivery schedules.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to design engineers.
• Review and approve engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, datasheets, drawings, schedules, and Bills of Quantities.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable international and local codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Coordinate Electrical, I&C, and Mechanical design activities with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Process, and BIM disciplines.
• Manage multidisciplinary technical interfaces and resolve design coordination issues.
• Monitor project engineering progress, deliverables, man-hours, and resource requirements.
• Identify technical, programme, and resource risks, and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, design reviews, and project coordination meetings.
• Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals, including scope definition, methodology, deliverables, manpower allocation requirements, and engineering man-hour estimates.
• Support project managers in planning and executing engineering activities.
• Ensure appropriate QA/QC procedures and engineering review processes are followed.
• Mentor and develop engineers within the team, supporting performance evaluations and career development.
• Support recruitment, interviews, and technical assessment of prospective engineering staff.
• Promote knowledge sharing, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement within the team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and I&C systems, including MV and LV power distribution, substations design, transformers, generators and emergency power systems, UPS and DC battery systems, Variable Frequency Drives, motor control centres, protection and coordination, short-circuit and load-flow studies, earthing and lightning protection, lighting and small power, power quality and voltage-dip mitigation, SCADA, control and instrumentation interfaces, and electrical equipment specifications.
• Capability to lead and coordinate mechanical engineering activities, including HVAC and ventilation systems, pumps and pumping systems, mechanical piping systems, water and wastewater equipment, fire protection systems, plumbing and drainage, mechanical equipment packages, equipment sizing and technical specifications, and mechanical calculations and equipment selection.

Work Environment

This role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and operates on a full-time basis within Artelia Middle-East. The MEP Team Leader will work within a multidisciplinary team, coordinating with various engineering disciplines and external clients.
