Senior Fire Protection Engineer

About the Role

Egis is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves the technical review and compliance verification of fire protection system designs against applicable fire codes, standards, and Saudi Civil Defence requirements. The engineer will assess various design submissions, including drawings, reports, calculations, specifications, and models.

Key Responsibilities

• Review fire protection and firefighting design submissions at concept, schematic, detailed design, and shop drawing stages.
• Evaluate fire protection drawings, specifications, design calculations, equipment schedules, technical reports, and supporting documentation.
• Assess the design and adequacy of various systems, including automatic sprinkler systems, fire hose reel systems, fire hydrant and wet/dry riser systems, fire pumps, fire water storage tanks, foam-based suppression systems, water mist systems, clean-agent suppression systems, pre-action and deluge systems, and kitchen hood suppression systems.
• Review system zoning, hydraulic demand, water supply, equipment arrangement, and system interface requirements.
• Verify that design calculations and equipment selections align with the proposed fire protection strategy and applicable requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related discipline.
• NFPA professional certifications, specifically CFPS and CWBSP.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in fire protection and firefighting system design and/or technical design review.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), demonstrating strong knowledge of local Civil Defence requirements, applicable codes, standards, and approval processes.
• Proven experience in reviewing fire protection, firefighting, and alternative fire suppression system designs for code compliance and authority approval.
