NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) is developing the world’s largest plant for green ammonia production at scale. This initiative aims to provide a cost-efficient solution to accelerate the global green hydrogen economy. Located in Neom, Saudi Arabia, and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, NGHC will integrate up to 4GW of onshore solar and wind energy to produce up to 650 tons of green ammonia daily for global transportation. Operations are scheduled to commence in 2026.

The Role of NH Control Room Operator Ammonia

The NH Control Room Operator Ammonia is responsible for the daily operation of the NH3 Unit, which includes the control of NH3 production, storage tanks, and the loading process. This full-time position is based in Neom, Tabuk, and reports directly to the NH3 Plant Manager. The operator will ensure operations adhere to company safety policies and site-specific procedures to achieve reliability, efficiency, and productivity goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safety first, aligning with all EH&S standards to achieve zero lost time injuries in the NH3 production unit.
• Supervise DCS, data acquisition, and alarm management systems, responding to normal and abnormal operating conditions to meet quality, safety, efficiency, and production goals.
• Troubleshoot and respond to operating conditions, customer order rates, and process optimization.
• Perform daily and monthly routines in accordance with operation and maintenance manuals, procedures, safety policies, and site-specific requirements.
• Meet training requirements and successfully pass scheduled validation reviews.
• Actively participate in NGHC safety programs, promoting and enforcing safety rules and good housekeeping methods.
• Act as a point of contact for daily operational communications with operators of other production units (H2, ASU, and Utilities plants).
• Understand the detailed Emergency Response Plan, accepting authority in an emergency to take necessary steps to protect personnel and ensure safe operation or plant shutdown.
• Be qualified as a safe work permit issuer and confined space supervisor, issuing permits or supervising as required.
• Responsible for overall housekeeping in the control room.
• Work rotating shifts and be on call during certain periods.
• Assist in updating operating procedures as required and follow up on KPIs to ensure operational performance.
• Provide shutdown support, leading operation activities, and offer training to new operators.
• Contribute to maintaining site management systems (*, MOC, BPs, SWIMs, JSAs).

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant operational role.
• Demonstrated commitment to team building, integrity, and diversity.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to ensure close cooperation.

Operational Duties

• Ensure the safe and reliable operation of NH3 production, storage tanks, and the loading process, adhering to NGHC standards.
• Monitor compliance with EH&S standards for all daily plant activities.
• Develop and update operation procedures.
• Play a relevant role in daily operational communications with other production units.

Training and Development

The incumbent will act as a trainer for new operators, contributing to the development of the team and ensuring consistent operational standards.
