About the Role: Biologist / Site Coordinator

Dürr Systems Arabia LLC is seeking a Biologist / Site Coordinator for a full-time position on our Vertical Farming Project in Taif, Saudi Arabia. This role requires 2-5 years of experience and will initially focus on site coordination during the installation and commissioning phases of the vertical farming system. As the project progresses, the focus will shift towards biological aspects, including plant health, crop performance, and growing conditions.

Key Responsibilities During Project Phases

The role involves a dual focus, adapting from site coordination to biological oversight as the project evolves:

• Manage and coordinate daily activities at the project site.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, HSE, Quality, and other relevant teams.
• Identify and escalate site issues, delays, and risks to Project Management.
• Organise and participate in regular site coordination meetings.
• Coordinate material deliveries, equipment availability, site-access requirements, and site logistics.
• Provide support for travel arrangements and organisational matters for international staff on site.
• Perform other project-related duties as assigned by Project Management.

Biological and Operational Responsibilities

Once the project transitions to the growing and operational phase, responsibilities will increasingly concentrate on the biological performance of the vertical farming system:

• Monitor plant health, growth, and overall crop performance within the controlled environment farming system.
• Monitor and evaluate environmental growing conditions, including temperature, humidity, and lighting.
• Support the monitoring and optimisation of nutrient solutions used in the growing system.
• Monitor water-quality parameters, including pH and electrical conductivity (EC).
• Identify signs of plant stress, nutrient deficiencies, disease, or pest issues, and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with crop trials, testing activities, and the optimisation of growing conditions.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to identify biological requirements affecting system performance.
• Support troubleshooting related to crop health and growing conditions.
• Maintain accurate records of observations, test results, treatments, and crop performance.
• Support hygiene, sanitation, and contamination-prevention practices within growing areas.
• Stay informed about relevant developments and best practices in controlled-environment agriculture.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Background in Biology or a related field is essential for the operational phase.
• Experience in site coordination or project support is beneficial.

Work Environment and Location

This full-time position is based at the Vertical Farming Project site in Taif, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working closely with various internal and external teams to ensure project success.
