About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Typhoon Instructor Pilot to join their team in Taif. This full-time position involves training Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircrew on the operation and use of Typhoon aircraft, equipment, and weapons. The role contributes to BAE Systems' commitment to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of national capability through partnerships.

Role Context and Reporting

The Typhoon Instructor Pilot reports to the Head of Flying Typhoon, through the BAe Squadron Senior Pilot. The primary responsibility is to assist and advise the RSAF squadron commander on all aspects related to the operation of Typhoon aircraft, including continuation training and conversion training for RSAF aircrew.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise the RSAF squadron commander on all matters concerning the Typhoon aircraft.
  • Provide guidance to the RSAF squadron commander on all aspects of pilot training within the unit.
  • Perform daily squadron duties, including flying and ground instruction, and supervisory tasks as directed by the RSAF squadron commander.
  • Undertake general staff work, project involvement, course development, and other related tasks as requested.
  • Conduct transition, continuation, and recency training, including ground school lectures, briefings, and de-briefings, aligned with aircrew operational requirements.
  • Complete accurate and detailed reports or assessments for pilots under instruction.
  • Support the RSAF squadron commander in preparing training/operational documents and specialist papers.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 1500 flying hours on fast jet aircraft.
  • Extensive and proven previous instructional experience.
  • Completion of at least one tour at the Typhoon Operational Conversion Unit or an equivalent establishment.
  • Proficiency in C to I Typhoon, covering all aspects of syllabii up to IPUG.

Essential Competencies

This position requires strong people development competencies and high levels of interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate, influence, and direct Saudi cadets both in the air and on the ground. The role involves responsibility to the Flying Wing Commander for conducting flying instructional missions for cadets in accordance with appropriate Royal Saudi Air Force training syllabi.
