Red Sea Global is seeking a Director - Operation for Botanica, its subsidiary specializing in sustainable greenery. Botanica provides sustainable landscaping across Red Sea Global’s destinations, integrating new species with local flora. The operation spans over 1 million square meters, with a goal of cultivating 30 million plants by 2030. This full-time role is based in Umluj and requires over 10 years of experience.

Role Overview

The Director - Operation leads the operational functions of the 180-hectare Botanica site. This includes field operations, plant maintenance, plant protection, irrigation and water management, soil mix and growing media, logistics, receiving and dispatch, and facilities, fleet, and workshops. The Director ensures plant health, timely and complete order dispatch, and the safe and efficient operation of the site for all business units.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain all nursery areas, including planting zones, shading, and mother stock areas.
• Conduct routine maintenance of nursery stock, including weeding, pruning, spacing, and cleaning.
• Monitor plant health daily and apply plant protection measures under the IPM and biosecurity program.
• Design, operate, and maintain the irrigation network and pump stations, setting schedules by zone and season.
• Monitor water quality, flow, and consumption, reducing freshwater use through TSE, drip, and smart irrigation.
• Source raw materials and produce consistent soil mixes and substrates, testing and recording batch quality.
• Manage logistics, including receiving local and imported plants and materials, coordinating biosecurity inspections, and executing dispatch against confirmed orders.
• Run preventive and corrective maintenance plans for facilities, greenhouses, shade structures, and equipment.
• Manage fleet availability, utilization, and compliance, and maintain the workshops and asset register.
• Oversee the Nursery Operations budget, allocate manpower, machinery, and transport, and support production and landscape maintenance requests.
• Report KPIs monthly and identify operational risks with corrective actions.
• Lead section heads, supervisors, and operatives, setting competency and training standards.
• Control high-risk activities in coordination with HSSE.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant Botanica and RSG Group policies, processes, and standard operating procedures.
• Apply and champion the safety, quality, and environmental management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and compliance management system (ISO 37301).
• Identify and lead opportunities for continuous improvement in department systems, processes, and practices.

Nursery Operations supports all business units, including Production, Landscape Maintenance, and Commercial. The role requires a focus on prevention and redundancy to mitigate risks such as irrigation outages or equipment breakdowns, which can lead to significant losses. • Over 15 years of relevant experience in operations management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex field operations and plant maintenance.
• Experience with irrigation and water management systems, including TSE and desalinated sources.
• Proficiency in managing logistics, receiving, and dispatch operations.
• Strong leadership skills to manage section heads, supervisors, and operatives.
• Understanding of HSSE standards and risk control in operational settings.
