Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the Role

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu is seeking a Medical Laboratory Specialist to join their team in Yanbu. This full-time position is designed for individuals with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on both general organizational responsibilities and specific technical tasks within a laboratory setting. The role ensures adherence to established protocols and contributes to the overall efficiency and quality of laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to RCMC policies and procedures, including dress code and chain of command.
• Maintain regulatory requirements, including national and JCI regulations.
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control.
• Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital.
• Maintain organizational confidentiality and comply with ethical business practices.
• Attend annual reviews, perform departmental in-services, and complete annual education requirements.
• Prepare reports and perform other work-related duties as assigned by management.
• Foster a cooperative working relationship with vendors, physicians, and staff.
• Report any negative, abnormal, or unexpected events/incidents promptly using the appropriate Occurrence Variance Report (OVR) form.

Technical Tasks

• Receive, label, and prepare specimens according to established protocols to ensure sample quality and traceability.
• Perform phlebotomy as a core duty.
• Conduct diverse laboratory tests accurately following standard procedures.
• Analyze, validate, and report test results promptly through the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Monitor and perform routine quality control to ensure the reliability of test outcomes.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
• Adhere to strict safety, biosafety, and infection control guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare teams and respond to urgent or special testing requests.
• Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and support laboratory accreditation and licensing standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy.
• Proficiency in performing diverse laboratory tests and operating laboratory instruments.
• Strong understanding of quality control, safety, biosafety, and infection control guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with healthcare teams.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Yanbu, within the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu hospital setting. The role requires maintaining a professional demeanor and adherence to all organizational policies and procedures.
