The Role of Engineer Principal

As an Engineer Principal, you will provide senior-level leadership across major contracts. This position is central to aligning contractors, consultants, and employer stakeholders to ensure effective project execution and consistent delivery standards. The role involves maintaining confidence in project strategy, administration, and governance, while fostering collaborative and high-performing working relationships across the wider project environment. This is a full-time position requiring more than 10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume the role of the Engineer under the contract.
• Maintain a close working relationship with and report to the Employer’s Representative.
• Carry out comprehensive project administration, schedule management, and project management activities in accordance with contract requirements and employer procedures.
• Assure the implementation of health and safety policies and procedures by the Contractor and Supervision Consultant.
• Assure the implementation of employer QA/QC policies and procedures by the Contractor and Supervision Consultant.
• Ensure compliance with all company internal processes and procedures.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and advice to Contractor and Consultant teams to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Foster a harmonious and productive work environment, promoting a strong team culture with open and transparent communication.
• Deliver exemplary contract administration performance.
• Manage prompt payment of money owed in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
• Administer contracts effectively and efficiently, including managing the Supervision Consultant in relation to project resource requirements.
• Establish and maintain regular close contact with the Employer to address concerns.
• Provide internal and external reports in accordance with contract requirements.
• Actively participate in Safety Health Environment Leadership Team meetings and other health and safety initiatives.
• Lead by example and proactively participate in weekly site tours with the H&S Manager and other relevant personnel.

Candidate Requirements

Candidates for the Engineer Principal position should possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering projects. Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing complex contracts and coordinating multiple stakeholders are essential. A strong understanding of project administration, schedule management, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) policies is required.
