Engineering Technician

About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their team. This full-time role involves responding to and resolving guest repair requests with minimal supervision, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting various equipment. The technician will ensure all maintenance activities meet company standards and local codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to and address guest repair requests, communicating with guests to resolve maintenance issues independently.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and conduct visual inspections.
• Carry necessary equipment such as tools and radios.
• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs.
• Perform complex repairs on physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters, adhering to company standards and local/national codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair various equipment, including pumps, motors, plumbing issues, electrical components, HVAC systems, and internet devices.
• Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system before commencing any maintenance work.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
• Undertake Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
• Adhere to all company safety and security policies, report hazards, complete safety training, and properly store flammable materials.
• Maintain a professional appearance, confidentiality, and protect company assets.
• Welcome guests according to company standards, anticipate service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and express appreciation.
• Adhere to quality expectations and standards.
• Develop positive working relationships, support team goals, and respond to employee concerns.
• Communicate professionally and clearly.
• Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently, and heavier items with assistance.
• Navigate stairs, service ramps, and ladders.
• Perform tasks requiring reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Utilize computers to access work-related information.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or *** equivalent with a vocational or technical background.
• Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory and requisition, and exterior/interior surface preparation and painting.
• A minimum of 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
• No supervisory experience is required for this role.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification.
• Must meet all applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.

Required Skills

• Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing and HVAC.
• Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability.
• Proficiency in at least three of the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
• Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials for repair and maintenance tasks.
• Advanced knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including interacting devices.
• Ability to train and mentor other engineers as necessary.
