About the Role
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, *** is seeking an Engineering Technician to join its team in the Red Sea region. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience and involves responding to guest repair requests and performing maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and resolve guest maintenance issues with little to no supervision, communicating effectively with guests.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
- Perform highly complex repairs of physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters, ensuring compliance with company standards and local/national codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair various types of equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems, including pump and motor replacement, unclogging drains, replacing electrical switches and outlets, and programming TVs.
- Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Train and mentor other engineers as necessary and perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC.
- Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability.
- Proficiency in at least three of the following categories, above-average skills in three more, and basic skills in the remaining: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
- Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Advanced knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including interacting devices.
Work Environment and Standards
The Engineering Technician will adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures, reporting any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries. This includes completing safety training and certifications and properly storing flammable materials. The role requires maintaining a clean and professional appearance, upholding confidentiality of proprietary information, and protecting company assets. Interaction with guests involves welcoming and acknowledging them according to company standards, anticipating service needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and expressing genuine appreciation. Adherence to quality expectations and standards is paramount.
Team Collaboration and Physical Requirements
This position requires developing and maintaining positive working relationships, supporting team goals, and communicating professionally with colleagues. Physical requirements include moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance, and heavier tasks with assistance. The role also involves moving up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders, reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The technician must be able to enter and locate work-related information using computers and perform other reasonable job duties as requested.
