Engineering Technician

About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their team. This full-time role involves responding to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting various equipment and systems within the property. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to and address guest repair requests, resolving maintenance issues with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect their condition.
• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition necessary parts and supplies.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs.
• Perform complex repairs on physical property, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with company standards and local/national codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair various equipment, including pumps, motors, plumbing, electrical items, HVAC, and internet devices.
• Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
• Conduct Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC.
• Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability.
• Proficiency in at least three of the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
• Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance and energy management.
• Ability to train and mentor other engineers as needed.

• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Utilize computers to access work-related information.
