Mechanic Technician

About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton is seeking a Mechanic Technician to join its team. This full-time role involves responding to and resolving guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the proper functioning of hotel systems and equipment. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect their condition.
• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs.
• Read standard blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Perform complex repairs on physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters, ensuring compliance with company standards and local/national codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair various equipment, including pumps, motors, plumbing (*, unclogging drains), electrical equipment, HVAC systems, and internet devices.
• Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system for all maintenance work.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
• Train and mentor other engineers as required and perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
• Adhere to all company safety and security policies, report hazards, and complete safety training.
• Maintain a professional appearance, confidentiality, and protect company assets.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification.
• Ability to meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
• Above average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability.
• Proficiency in at least three of the following categories, above average skills in three more, and basic skills in the remaining: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
• Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance and energy management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or * equivalent with a vocational or technical background.
• Related Work Experience: Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory and requisition, and exterior/interior surface preparation and painting.
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
• License or Certification: Valid Driver’s License.
