About the Neurology Technician Role

Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib (HMG) is seeking a Neurology Technician to join our team in a full-time capacity. This role is central to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases and disorders, involving the performance of non-invasive neurological tests as directed by a Physician. The technician will utilize various electro neuro diagnostics equipment, including frequent use of an electroencephalogram (EEG) machine to monitor and record brain patterns.

Core Clinical Responsibilities

  • Perform Neuro diagnostic procedures, including Electroencephalography (EEG), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), and other neurology procedures.
  • Assist the Neurologist in performing NCS (Neuro Conduction Study) and Electromyography (EMG).
  • Operate and manage neuro machines, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
  • Perform portable procedures for in-patients and other departments as required.
  • Ensure proper care in the use of machines and supplies to maintain functionality and availability.

Patient Interaction and Support

  • Prepare and assist patients for prescribed procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
  • Explain procedures and provide required education to patients and their families.
  • Answer all patient and family queries professionally and empathetically.
  • Monitor patient vital signs throughout procedures.
  • Initiate emergency measures and call for help when necessary to ensure patient safety.
  • Provide post-procedure care, ensuring patient comfort and safety before discharge or transfer.
  • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity in all interactions.

Operational Compliance and Documentation

  • Adhere to infection control principles to maintain a sterile and safe environment.
  • Adhere to JCIA/CBAHI standards to ensure optimal patient safety and quality of care.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Adhere to documentation policy for all procedures and patient interactions.
  • Maintain proper records of procedures for charging purposes and administrative accuracy.
  • Schedule patients efficiently to avoid delays and contribute to patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain stock supplies and order them on time to ensure continuous operation.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education/Professional Qualification: Diploma in Neuro Science or Nursing with Neuroscience certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience, preferably in the same area of specialization.

Professional Development and Workplace Contribution

  • Attend education and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Attend meetings as needed to contribute to departmental and organizational goals.
  • Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
  • Perform any delegated task by the Charge Nurse within the realm of knowledge, skills, and ability.
