About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a Technical Manager to provide essential engineering support and technical consultancy to NOMAC-operated power and water production facilities in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on resolving operational difficulties, evaluating material performance, and optimizing plant designs to enhance performance, minimize costs, and ensure sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct diligent verification of basic data, design specifications, and system standards for major plant equipment installed or to be installed in NOMAC-operated projects.
  • Participate in developing the "Scope of Work" to define functional requirements and equipment specifications for system/equipment modifications by outsourced agencies.
  • Assist Plant Management in responding to technical queries and clarifications from contractors.
  • Support Plant O&M crews in analyzing critical system upsets and operating problems, recommending measures to prevent recurrences.
  • Perform Residual Life Assessment (RLA) studies for major plant equipment, recommending corrective actions for lifespan extension and economic utilization.
  • Provide engineering support and technical consultancy to NOMAC Plants in the following areas:
    • Applied Studies: Process development and optimization of thermal and membrane desalination, pretreatment processes, root cause identification of corrosion/scaling, environmental impact assessment, and life prediction of major equipment.
    • Evaluation Studies: Performance evaluation of materials (*, proprietary chemicals, metallic alloys, non-metallic construction materials, coatings) and equipment (*, pressure exchangers, condenser tubes, RO/UF membranes).
    • Troubleshooting Studies: Failure case studies, event investigations, suggesting remedial actions for recurring problems, and monitoring feed/product water qualities.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in engineering support and technical consultancy for power and water producing facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational difficulties and evaluate material performance.
  • Experience in reviewing plant/equipment designs and specifications.

Work Environment

The Technical Manager will be required to travel frequently to various plant locations, driving independently. Physical inspections within segments of MSF distillers/boilers will be necessary. The role may involve working jointly with designers and contractors on-site during the design, erection, and commissioning phases of plants.
