Well Intervention Specialist

About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Well Intervention Specialist to join the Unconventional Resources Completion Engineering Division, part of the Completion Operations Department (URCOD). This full-time role involves planning, reviewing, and validating well intervention activities, with a focus on providing solutions for wells with integrity issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan well intervention activities, review and validate completed operations, and provide solutions for wells with integrity issues, supported by a well completion specialist.
• Manage routine well intervention and well diagnostics, demonstrating proficiency in downhole remediation practices and preparing field operational procedures.
• Select and trial new advanced well completion and intervention technologies, collaborating with the drilling department and frac service providers on wellhead transitions, barrier requirements, and fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Conduct well and field completion performance and integrity modeling using industry-recognized software.
• Ensure departmental compliance with mandated regulations and standards through continuous monitoring and support for ongoing and future operations, maintaining well barrier requirements across all intervention types.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or petroleum engineering from a recognized and approved program is required.
• Candidates must have 10-15 years of experience in rigless well intervention operations, including the design, planning, and execution of wireline, slickline, and coiled tubing operations in critical sour gas environments, with a preference for unconventional operational experience.
• Experience in unconventional resources or High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT), tight gas, and oil wells is essential, along with a strong understanding of well intervention and stimulation operations and their impact on well completion.
• A proven record in conducting all types of intervention operations required in unconventional wells, including completion design, tubing movements, coiled tubing, wireline, slickline, hydraulic fracturing, and flowback, is necessary. The ability to issue complete detailed programs for each operation type is also required.

Required Skills

• Familiarity with wellhead and downhole completion design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Extensive knowledge of industry regulations, safety practices, and standards related to surface and downhole equipment selection.
• Experience in optimizing surface well intervention operations using the latest technologies and best practices.

Work Type

This is a full-time position within Saudi Aramco's Completion Operations Department.
