About Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Company

Role Purpose and Context

The Process Engineer will operate in a full-time capacity in Al Jubail, providing essential support to Operations. This role is critical for complex troubleshooting, ensuring and optimizing unit performance, driving long-term improvements, and developing various studies. The position requires 3 to 6 years of relevant experience, focusing on maintaining plant integrity and efficiency within a dynamic petrochemical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with Sharq policies and SHEMs / OMS procedures, contributing to target SHE rates and adherence to quality procedures and Sharq ISO certified standards.
  • Provide process expertise and support during plant upsets, startups, and shutdowns.
  • Ensure plant process integrity by maintaining a well-defined operating envelope.
  • Conduct comprehensive project feasibility studies, develop project packages, and track the status of assigned studies weekly and monthly.
  • Participate as a member of the Management of Change Committee (MOCC).
  • Prepare study scopes, ensuring they meet plant requirements, and review/consolidate approved study concepts.
  • Assist the process manager with additional assigned duties.
  • Perform techno-economical evaluation and selection of new catalysts, monitor catalyst performance, and support troubleshooting.
  • Initiate and apply technology adaptation opportunities and best practices.
  • Monitor the quality of all utilities and advise operations on deviations, including the efficiency of steam boilers and water quality.
  • Prepare monthly plant overall performance reports, monitor performance, and advise operations on improvement areas.
  • Maintain Furnace design Conversion and Yield without impacting the run-length of cracking operations.
  • Maintain Hydrogenation Reactors’ catalyst selectivity within the design range without loss of desired products.
  • Manage communication with Licensors, SABIC Technology and Innovation (T&I), other affiliates, and vendors.
  • Carry out process modeling to support optimization and modification requirements.
  • Execute all required studies, fulfilling the role in the S&E committee as per MEMS ** and MEMS ***
  • Mentor and groom young process engineers, monitoring their progress and validating their development continuously.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent field.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience in relevant plant operations (*, OLF, Glycol).

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, procedures, and legislative processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong personal rapport, and self-motivation for coaching internal staff and collaborating with external groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying technology through teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and proprietary information.
  • Proficiency in Process Simulation.
