About WakeCap and the WC3 Platform

WakeCap develops connected-worker platforms for large-scale construction and industrial sites. The company's hardware, including smart helmets, anchors, and gateways, feeds a real-time SaaS platform that provides site teams with worker location, safety compliance, automated mustering, and productivity analytics. WakeCap operates across major projects in the GCC region.

The WC3 platform is WakeCap's offering, a pre-launch SaaS core designed to connect IoT hardware with customer workflows. It is modeled on ontology-driven, pipeline-first patterns and built to serve AI agents as first-class users alongside human operators.

The Role: Engineering Manager (WC3 Squad Lead)

WakeCap is seeking an Engineering Manager (WC3 Squad Lead) to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern region. This is a full-time position where the successful candidate will own the WC3 platform end-to-end. The role involves setting the architecture, building and leading a small, senior engineering team with high autonomy, and upholding engineering quality. The Engineering Manager reports directly to the VP Engineering and has a direct impact on product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the architecture across the WC3 platform, including data ontology, semantic layer, pipelines, lineage, streaming backbone, developer SDK and API surface, authorization, governance, application layer, and DevOps.
  • Lead the end-to-end hiring process for the team, including defining standards, managing the recruitment process, and making hiring decisions.
  • Ensure team performance and foster a strong culture by setting clear expectations, providing direct feedback, conducting meaningful reviews, and taking decisive action when performance standards are not met.
  • Manage the AIP layer, overseeing agent runtime, MCP surface, and AI-powered features, ensuring alignment with accepted architectural decisions.
  • Oversee delivery, including sprint planning, agile ceremonies, and translating the product roadmap into shippable increments in collaboration with the Product team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering, demonstrating clear progression from a senior Individual Contributor (IC) to engineering leadership.
  • At least 5 years of direct experience managing engineers, which includes leading teams, owning hiring processes, and running performance cycles. Project leadership is not considered equivalent to team leadership.
  • Proven track record in designing and delivering scalable, multi-tenant SaaS or large-scale distributed systems in production, including experience with incident management, migrations, and scaling failures.
  • Experience with ontology-driven, governed data platforms such as Palantir Foundry/AIP, Databricks Unity Catalog, or similar. Direct Foundry/AIP experience is highly valued.
  • Ability to conceptualize and apply patterns such as ontologies, pipelines, lineage, governed SDK surfaces, and an application layer.
  • Strong proficiency in C#/.NET, with fluency across other backend technologies (*, Go, Python, Java, ****** Candidates should demonstrate informed opinions on technology trade-offs rather than attachment to a single stack.
  • Frontend depth in TypeScript with a modern framework; expertise in API design (REST/GraphQL); experience with relational, time-series, and vector databases; proficiency in cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS), Docker/Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of LLM integration patterns, including RAG, tool/function calling, MCP serving, agent runtime design, and output evaluation.
  • Daily hands-on experience using Claude Code and Codex in real engineering work, coupled with a grounded awareness of the current AI model landscape.
  • Exceptional written and spoken English is a mandatory requirement.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Direct hands-on experience with Foundry/AIP builds.
  • Experience with agentic frameworks (*, LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen) and multi-agent orchestration.
  • Knowledge of IoT or connected-device data ingestion.
  • Experience with enterprise integrations (*, SSO, ERP/PM systems such as Oracle or Procore).
  • Background in construction, industrial, or field-operations software.
  • Familiarity with KSA/CST data residency, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 standards.

What We Offer

This role offers a high degree of autonomy in building a platform from the ground up, providing the opportunity to significantly influence its architectural direction.
