The Engineering Manager Role

Hala is seeking an Engineering Manager to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend systems, with a focus on microservices architecture. The manager will play a key role in ensuring system reliability, performance, and security, while also mentoring junior engineers and upholding best coding practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems.
• Architect and implement microservices-based applications using .NET Core.
• Develop and optimize RESTful APIs for integration with frontend and third-party services.
• Work with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases for data storage and retrieval.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices, including OAuth, JWT, encryption, and API security.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Ensure system scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
• Work with event-driven architectures utilizing message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and enforce best coding practices.
• Stay informed on emerging backend technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development.
• Proficiency in .NET Core.
• Strong experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on experience with message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ for event-driven systems.
• Strong understanding of API security, authentication mechanisms, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools, including Jenkins.
• Experience with scalability and high-availability architectures.

• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, particularly for mentoring junior developers.
