Project Engineer Automation

About the Role

ABB is seeking a Project Engineer - Automation to join their team in Al Khobar, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position reports to the Operations Manager and involves supporting engineering activities across projects of varying sizes and complexities under the guidance of senior engineers. The role requires 2-5 years of experience.

Role Context and Contribution

The Project Engineer will be responsible for completing assigned tasks cost-effectively while ensuring compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies. This role contributes to the SA-OPC Business Line within the Middle East region and supports engineering activities and project execution. Collaboration with key stakeholders, including Sales, Product Management, and Business Development teams, is essential for delivering customer-focused solutions and achieving business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform basic survey work, standard automation engineering, analysis, and basic design tasks.
• Collect data and support engineering design production.
• Exercise judgment on limited details of work and on application of standard methods, and prepare relevant documentation.
• Support communication pertaining to specific assignments in meetings.
• Participate in workshops related to engineering, design, tools, and processes.
• Work in graphic/application engineering development in DCS.
• Program, implement, test, and document process control applications.
• Understand control narratives and P&IDs.
• Assist in preparing proposals/presentations of engineering projects/programs, including provision of bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.

Required Experience

• 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Work Model and Location

This role operates under a hybrid/on-site work model and is based in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
