About the Role

AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software, is seeking an RTO Consultant to join its team. This full-time, permanent position is based in Al Khobar and involves a hybrid work model, requiring three days in the office with customer deployments. The role is part of the Global Optimization group, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of Real Time Optimization (RTO) applications within the refinery and petrochemical sectors.

Key Responsibilities

As an RTO Consultant, you will be responsible for a range of technical and client-facing activities. This includes the end-to-end implementation of RTO applications using AVEVA Process Optimization (APO) software, as well as maintaining existing installations. You will serve as a key technical interface with customers, ensuring project requirements are clearly defined and met. Your duties will also involve troubleshooting technical issues, managing project scope against plans, and contributing to process discussions and documentation.

  • Implementing Real Time Optimization (RTO) applications in Refinery and Petrochemical units using AVEVA Process Optimization (APO) software.
  • Maintaining the installed base of RTO applications.
  • Acting as a technical interface with customers to define and agree upon project requirements.
  • Ensuring engineered solutions meet project requirements for functionality, standards, and quality.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical problems during project execution.
  • Monitoring and controlling assigned work scope against project plans, managing change control, and identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Reviewing process flow diagrams and P&IDs, and participating in process discussions.
  • Completing database or schematic changes, implementing complex calculations for data analysis, and manipulating data files.
  • Assisting and participating in other AVEVA Project Areas.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates for this role must possess a strong background in Chemical Process and/or Control Engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. This experience should be focused on the optimization of refinery and/or petrochemical operations and/or planning. Expertise in rigorous refinery process simulation packages or advanced control applications within these sectors is required. Fluency in English is also a mandatory requirement.

  • Chemical Process and/or Control Engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience in Optimization of Refinery and/or Petrochemical operations and/or planning.
  • Expert user of rigorous refinery process simulation packages or expert in advanced control applied to Refinery and Petrochemical, or both.
  • Fluency in English language.

Desirable Skills

While not strictly required, certain additional skills and familiarity can enhance a candidate's suitability for this position. These include experience with PI Asset Framework and PI Vision. Programming skills in languages such as tcl, Python, Excel VBA, or SQL would be considered a valuable asset. Familiarity with Power BI is also desirable.

Work Environment and Location

This role is situated in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The employment type is full-time and permanent. The work model is hybrid, requiring employees to be in the office for three days a week, with customer deployments also forming a part of the role's activities.
