About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is seeking an Assistant Consultant in Pediatric Hematology / Oncology / Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapy. This full-time position involves assisting in the provision of medical care and supervising interns and residents, adhering to established medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Consultants in patient care and management within Pediatric Hematology/Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapy, maintaining medical care standards.
  • Conduct patient assessments, examinations, and compile case histories to aid in diagnosis and management.
  • Record detailed medical histories, perform physical examinations, and develop patient management plans for discussion with Consultants. Document Consultant orders, progress notes, and other required outpatient records.
  • Provide on-call coverage for the specialty on a rotational basis during evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Prepare for and participate in Consultant and Specialist ward rounds, documenting findings in medical records.
  • Follow up on outpatient investigation results and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Attend specialty and outpatient clinics and participate in the on-call schedule.

Academic and Research Contributions

  • Provide orientation, bedside training, and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows.
  • Stay informed of the latest techniques and developments in the specialization, implementing relevant advancements to improve technical standards.
  • Participate in departmental educational activities and training programs, as well as national and international medical conferences.
  • Contribute to clinical, basic, and translational research projects and publish papers in line with Research Advisory Council Policy.

Administrative Duties

  • Undertake administrative duties as assigned by the Section Head or Department Chairman.
  • Participate in mandatory departmental activities and serve on departmental and Healthcare Delivery committees.
  • Assist in developing and implementing techniques and practices to optimize resource utilization within the department and across the Healthcare Delivery.
  • Adhere to current Healthcare Delivery and medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies, staying updated on any changes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited medical school, completion of required postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty, with Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification, or an equivalent as determined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation.
  • Language: Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English is required.
