About Masdr and the Role

Masdr, a provider of integrated digital data and business solutions to public and private sector organizations, is seeking a Sr. Cloud Platform Engineer. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires 5-10 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on designing, building, and operating scalable, secure cloud platform capabilities to enable application teams to deploy and run services efficiently. The Sr. Cloud Platform Engineer will drive Infrastructure as Code, automation, and DevSecOps practices to ensure consistency, reliability, governance, and compliance across the environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Contribute to Masdr's strategy by aligning platform capabilities with business, engineering, and regulatory requirements.
• Translate architecture and standards into practical implementation plans.
• Ensure platform services comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements (*, NCA, SAMA).
• Support audits, risk assessments, and remediation activities.
• Ensure reliability, availability, and performance of platform services through monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain standardization, documentation, and automation across platform operations.
• Work closely with DevOps, Security, and application teams to enable secure and scalable deployments.
• Act as a technical point of contact for platform-related initiatives.
• Implement changes with minimal risk and downtime using controlled and automated approaches.

Platform Engineering and Automation

• Design, build, and maintain cloud platform components, including landing zones, shared services, and foundational infrastructure.
• Ensure scalable, secure, and standardized platform architecture across environments.
• Design and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and reusable modules.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and operational workflows across the platform, ensuring consistency and auditability.
• Design and enable CI/CD pipelines to support application build, test, and deployment workflows.
• Integrate platform capabilities with development pipelines to enable self-service deployments and improve release efficiency.

Operational Excellence and Compliance

• Embed security controls into platform design and deployment workflows, ensuring secure configurations and access control.
• Collaborate with security teams to integrate security practices into CI/CD and platform services.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for platform components and services, ensuring reliability through proactive issue detection.
• Support incident response and root cause analysis for platform-related issues.
• Operate and maintain cloud platform services, ensuring availability and performance.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues across environments, managing capacity and optimization.
• Administer and maintain Linux and Windows server environments across cloud and on-prem platforms.
• Apply system hardening standards and secure configurations aligned with regulatory requirements (NCA, SAMA).
• Perform patching, vulnerability remediation, and baseline configuration management.
• Enforce cloud governance, tagging, and policy standards across all resources.
• Support audit readiness through proper controls, logging, and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-6 years of experience in cloud platform engineering or a related technical role.
• Proven expertise in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud platforms.
• Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation.
• Solid understanding and practical application of DevSecOps principles.
• Experience with Linux and Windows server administration, including hardening and patching.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as NCA and SAMA.
• Ability to implement and enforce cloud governance and policy standards.

Continuous Improvement and Collaboration

The Sr. Cloud Platform Engineer will coordinate with cloud service providers and vendors to ensure service performance and SLA adherence. This role also involves supporting the evaluation and adoption of new tools, technologies, and cloud services, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in automation, observability, and infrastructure practices. Maintaining up-to-date documentation and standards is a key aspect of this position.
