About the Role

Canon EMEA is seeking a Tax Accounting Specialist Direct Ops to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to ensuring comprehensive tax compliance across Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), and Withholding Tax (WHT), alongside the timely filing of all declarations to relevant authorities. The specialist will serve as a key liaison, providing essential tax advice to Middle East and African business units, the parent entity, subsidiaries, and representative offices, while managing internal and external relations.

Key Tax Responsibilities

• Conduct monthly tax reviews of parent and subsidiary tax registers and reconciliations.
• Provide monthly reporting to GFM and FD on the tax health of parent and subsidiaries, including all tax submissions and declarations.
• Perform quarterly internal audit and compliance checks of all tax ledgers for parent and subsidiaries, including gap analysis.
• Monitor and provide regular updates on tax rules and regulations for all applicable jurisdictions.
• Manage internal and external tax audits.
• Deliver tax-related training to the business units.
• Support IT with tax-related system setups for CIT, WHT, VAT, and other applicable taxes.
• File, review, recalculate, and confirm tax returns for all jurisdictions under CME.
• Act as the main point of contact for tax audits and taxation requirements in financial audits.
• Implement new tax rules and regulations effectively.

Additional Accounting Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable (A/P): Ensure process accuracy, on-time supplier payments, proper accruals, prepaid expenses, SGA, and Balance Sheet accuracy. Maintain supplier statement of accounts and obtain formal balance confirmations from all suppliers.
• Cash Management: Responsible for 100% cash and collections accuracy. Ensure all petty cash transactions are properly supported, have the correct approvals, and align with company policies and procedures.
• Accurate Bank Reconciliations: Achieve zero unjustified deltas in monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring 100% accuracy.
• Accounting Accuracy / Month Close: Properly handle all guarantees and leases, maintain accurate records, and ensure proper month-end close and Balance Sheet reconciliations for all accounts under direct responsibility with 100% accuracy.
• Banks & Insurance: Ensure adequate and valid insurance coverage throughout the year. Support the business with the timely issuance of new guarantees and bonds. Effectively manage relationships with banks and insurance providers.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in tax accounting.
• Mandatory experience in multinational companies or a Big4 accounting firm.
• Proven track record of leading successful tax implementation in entities and organizations, specifically with CIT/VAT implementation.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within the Canon EMEA operations. The role involves collaboration with various internal stakeholders across business, finance, and IT, as well as central tax teams at HQ.
