About Bechtel and the Ar Rjum Project

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Field Engineering E&I professional for the Ar Rjum Project. This greenfield gold project encompasses three open-pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpiles, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and comprehensive supporting infrastructure. This infrastructure includes water and power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and both temporary and permanent accommodation villages. The project is strategically located within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km northeast of Taif towards Riyadh, and about 26 km south of Al Mouwayh, a town situated on the Jeddah - Riyadh highway.

Role Summary

The Electrical & Instrumentation Field Engineer is a full-time role responsible for construction engineering tasks and activities within the electrical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines. This position requires adherence to relevant industry codes and standards. Key responsibilities span from developing work plans and coordinating materials to performing and documenting inspections, ensuring safety and quality control, reporting progress, and resolving design and construction conflicts. The role focuses on the installation and testing of commodities through to turnover for Startup/Commissioning, requiring 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues related to commodity installations and work sequencing.
• Provide field engineering support and assistance to superintendents and supporting personnel to meet cost and time schedules.
• Verify materials, equipment, and quality, ensuring results meet design requirements.
• Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve design and construction conflicts related to electrical commodity installation and testing.
• Ensure procedural compliance, material control, and complete and thorough documentation of inspections for completed work.
• Direct or perform preparation of quantity listings for field-purchased material and equipment, and initiate requisitions for field material purchases.
• Support the preparation of construction drawings and schedules, design temporary construction facilities, and ensure the preparation of as-built drawings and other job plans.
• Support the planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment, ensuring proper warehousing and storage for environmental protection.
• Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise on site.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering, or a related subject from an accredited university, with 10 years of progressive construction or electrical engineering experience.
• Alternatively, in lieu of a degree, 15 years of relevant experience in the MENA region with a sound understanding of cultural norms and requirements.
• Previous supervisory experience within the electrical discipline.
• Thorough knowledge of all phases of engineering, design, construction, and field activities.
• Broad knowledge of Construction Standard Work Process Procedures and current industry standards.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Design Suite software programs, with experience in 3D and 4D modeling software.
• Working knowledge of the Set Route application.

Required Skills and Physical Demands

• Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs, which may involve extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders and scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces, and maneuvering in small and/or confined spaces.
• Strong English language communication and report writing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a team player mindset, and a knowledge-sharing approach.
• Ability to solve problems through lateral thinking and understand client and entity needs to provide technical compliance and training.
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and manage challenging cross-cultural relationships.
• Self-driven and capable of planning and executing work without direct supervision from senior management and/or peers.

• Broad knowledge of the requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan, and the Bechtel Core Processes relevant to the area of responsibility.
• Knowledge of company and project quality policies.
