About the Role

National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a General Practitioner to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves providing comprehensive patient care while adhering to high professional standards and medical ethics. The General Practitioner will operate within the guidelines of evidence-based medicine, CBAHI/JCIA standards, hospital by-laws, and Ministry of Health regulations in Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure superior quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for all patients at NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
• Perform history taking, physical examinations, interpret common diagnostic tests, and formulate management plans upon admission.
• Conduct daily ward rounds for all inpatients and liaise with consultants regarding patient care.
• Actively participate in departmental on-call rotations and morning reports with the Consultant on-call and moderator.
• Admit patients from hospital referral facilities (*, ER and OPD) following discussions with the supervising Consultant.
• Evaluate new admissions, coordinate investigation plans with the Consultant and Senior Registrar, and execute approved management courses.
• Seek advice and guidance from senior staff when a patient's condition requires further expertise.
• Document all plans in patient charts and maintain updated follow-up notes.
• Present previous day's admissions during morning reports when on duty.
• Execute diagnostic procedures (*, bone marrow aspirations, lumbar puncture) after consultation with Senior Staff.
• Participate in outpatient services (OPD and ER) under Senior Staff supervision.
• Rotate through specialized inpatient units (ICU, CCU, Hemodialysis) as needed, under the supervision of the Senior Staff Member in-charge.
• Prepare problem lists, discharge summaries, death reports, and special patient reports as required.
• Participate in CME through medical meetings and departmental educational activities such as Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, and morbidity and mortality meetings.
• Carry out administrative, organizational, or other duties assigned by the Head of the Department.

Patient and Family Education

• Educate patients and families according to their needs, implementing the patient/family education policy and procedure, including documentation in medical records.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the essential role in patient and family education.
• Involve patients and families in the plan of care, respecting their goals and choices.
• Provide health promotion and teaching appropriate to the patient’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness, language preference, culture, and situation.
• Allocate necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education, ensuring appropriate documentation.

Reporting Structure

The General Practitioner reports to the Senior Registrar, Consultant Internist or Consultant of the Subspecialty (Division), and the Head of Department. This role involves liaison with all physicians, staff of supporting professional services, patients, and families.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience: 2-5 years in a relevant medical field.
• Adherence to the Policies and Procedures of the Department of Internal Medicine and the By-Laws and Rules and Regulations of Riyadh Care Hospital.
