About Al-Futtaim and the Role

Al-Futtaim is seeking an Inventory Controller to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring efficient retail operations. The role is suitable for candidates with 0-1 years of experience, offering an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic retail environment.

Role Purpose and Impact

The Inventory Controller plays a crucial role in managing stock levels and minimizing loss risks through strict adherence to operating procedures. This position requires working both independently and collaboratively within a team, overseeing inventory accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and generating essential reports. Success in this role demands precision, effective problem-solving, and clear communication with both internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track shipments and manage product inputs and outputs from warehouses and stores.
  • Escalate stock discrepancies identified during receiving to suppliers or senders by raising SRD reports and coordinating adjustments in the system.
  • Maintain and update stock records in both incoming and outgoing log books and the inventory system.
  • Conduct weekly stock accuracy checks, investigate shortages, and segregate damaged stock, ensuring its movement for system updates.
  • Periodically verify physical stock quantities against software records and implement corrective measures for discrepancies in coordination with brand teams, MIS, AM, and OPM.

Operational Support and Financial Oversight

  • Prepare the store for marketing events, organize stock count procedures, and facilitate easy scanning and counting of inventory.
  • Accurately record details of missing barcodes, quality, quantity, type, and other inventory characteristics, providing updates to the brand team for support.
  • Be physically present during store maintenance activities, often outside regular store operating hours.
  • Participate in annual business planning and manage monthly budgets related to inventory operations.
  • Create purchase orders, track invoices, ensure work completion adheres to Service Level Agreements (SLA), and manage invoicing by service providers as required.
  • Manage non-merchandise assets stored within stock rooms for business-related activities.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 0 to 1 year of relevant experience in inventory control or a similar operational role.
  • Demonstrated precision and attention to detail in managing inventory data and physical stock.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address stock discrepancies and operational challenges.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with suppliers, internal teams, and management.
  • Ability to work both independently and as an integral part of a team.
  • Understanding of financial aspects and asset management principles is beneficial.

Work Environment

This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and involves working within a retail operations environment. The role requires flexibility, including occasional presence during maintenance activities outside standard store hours.
