About the Role

Capella Hotels and Resorts is seeking a Learning and Development Manager to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position focuses on coordinating and organizing development activities to achieve company performance standards and hotel goals.

Role Overview

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for conducting systematic analysis of training needs and delivering relevant learning plans. This role acts as an internal consultant on training matters, maintaining current knowledge of statutory requirements, developing innovative training programs, and promoting a culture of continuous learning. The manager will partner with stakeholders to ensure colleagues are equipped with the necessary skills for successful job performance and to achieve service excellence in hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting learning needs analysis, including operational performance metrics.
  • Designing and developing learning programs to address performance gaps and management competencies.
  • Managing and coordinating all compliance and safety-related training.
  • Ensuring training certification manuals are relevant and updated, and training checklists are submitted for new hires.
  • Facilitating hotel orientation programs for all new colleagues.
  • Collaborating with department heads to review team learning needs and performance gaps.
  • Developing individualized and group training programs to enhance colleague performance.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs by measuring results and monitoring behavioral change.
  • Selecting and managing resources, including internal employees and external training vendors.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Human Resources on succession planning.
  • Providing performance feedback, including colleague recognition, rewards, and disciplinary actions.
  • Reviewing and ensuring individual development plans focus on experiential learning.

Learning and Development Management

  • Creating and adhering to an annual budget for all training programs and resources.
  • Marketing learning programs and initiatives through creative campaigns.
  • Managing an effective Learning Coaches program, supporting their development and adherence to standards.
  • Facilitating Capella Academy modules and hotel orientation programs, incorporating adult learning principles.
  • Preparing and producing training calendars aligned with performance gaps and learning needs.
  • Providing leadership with a clear vision to ensure delivery of Capella brand values.

Professional Development and Continuous Improvement

The Learning and Development Manager is expected to be an exemplary role model, demonstrating the Capella Culture and Service Philosophy. This includes providing flawless, upscale, professional, and luxury guest service experiences. The role requires staying updated on the latest industry trends and actively seeking opportunities to curate best talent and learning development practices. Pursuing personal growth in training and learning disciplines, including certifications, is also a key aspect of this role.

Qualifications and Experience

This role requires 5-10 years of experience in a related field. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in designing and delivering effective training programs, understanding adult learning principles, and managing learning budgets. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential for partnering with department heads and stakeholders. Experience in the hospitality industry is beneficial.
