Ciena, a global leader in high-speed connectivity, is seeking a Sales Engineer for Optical Solutions. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves contributing to the future of connectivity across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East by designing high-performance networking solutions for cloud, AI, and digital services.

Role Overview

As a Sales Engineer, you will combine technical expertise with customer-facing collaboration. Your primary responsibility will be to translate complex network challenges into practical, scalable solutions that deliver business value for leading service providers and major enterprises. This involves working with various teams to align solutions with customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders among telecom operators in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East.
• Lead customer-facing technical discussions, solution workshops, product demonstrations, and proposals.
• Collaborate with sales, product, engineering, and services teams to develop solutions that meet customer requirements for cloud, AI, 5G, and digital services.
• Provide technical guidance on optical, transport, and routing and switching technologies.
• Identify new growth opportunities by monitoring regional telecom trends, customer network strategies, and technology developments.
• Support customer engagements across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, including presentations, technical validation, and ongoing relationship development.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience: 6+ years in telecommunications, including optical transport, IP/MPLS, networking, or related technologies.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of optical networking, transport technologies, and network architecture concepts.
• Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the Saudi Arabian and Middle Eastern telecom market.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English and Arabic, with strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and business audiences.
• Presentation Skills: Experience presenting technical solutions and supporting customer business objectives.
• Travel: Willingness to travel across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East as required by business needs.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with Ciena platforms and solutions, or similar optical and packet networking technologies.
• Experience working with regional telecom operators.
• Knowledge of network automation and optimization technologies.
• Background in developing customer and partner relationships within the telecom industry.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies impacting telecom networks.
• Experience supporting growth initiatives within the region.
• Application of cross-functional collaboration within a global organization.
