About the WHS Specialist Role

Amazon Saudi Arabia (ex-Souq) is seeking an experienced WHS Specialist to join its operations in Riyadh. This full-time position requires a professional dedicated to maintaining and improving health and safety standards within a logistics environment. The role involves significant responsibility for employee well-being and operational safety.

Role Context and Responsibilities

The WHS Specialist will play a critical role in supervising overall Health and Safety standards at a designated delivery station. This includes ensuring employee well-being and productivity, while actively contributing to the continuous improvement of functional efficiency and safety protocols. The role demands collaboration across various Operations sites and providing expert guidance on Health & Safety matters to all stakeholders.

• Oversee Health and Safety standards and employee satisfaction at the delivery station.
• Collaborate effectively on Health and Safety projects across multiple Operations sites.
• Provide guidance on Health & Safety matters to stakeholders, particularly within the designated area of responsibility.
• Review and audit Health & Safety management arrangements, implementing improvements as necessary.
• Plan and implement work systems designed to reduce Health and Safety risks, including recommending adaptations to machinery and processes.
• Ensure robust reporting systems are in place for Health and Safety statistics.
• Develop written Health & Safety documentation, including procedures, tools, and training materials in both English and the local language.
• Provide management with relevant information and statistics concerning the area of responsibility.
• Support business change through effective change management processes within the flexible environment of the delivery station.
• Direct behavioral culture change programs across a large, complex, multi-shift operation.
• Implement and review Amazon’s global safety policies, ensuring compliance with local legislative requirements.
• Ensure contractor management safety processes are implemented.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this position should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in Health and Safety management, preferably within a logistics or e-commerce environment. A strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices is essential. The ability to develop and implement safety procedures, conduct audits, and manage change effectively is required.

Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential hazards and implement preventative measures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for collaborating with diverse stakeholders and directing behavioral change programs. Proficiency in developing written documentation and reporting is also a key requirement.
