About the Parachute Fabrication Technician Supervisor Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Parachute Fabrication Technician Supervisor to join their team in Taif. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and requires 5-10 years of experience. The successful candidate will deputise for a senior employee within the Typhoon Maintenance Organisation, overseeing the Parachute Fabrications Shop and ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

Role Context and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of all activities within the shop component repair plan, supporting the Salam Project's Operational Readiness and Key Performance Measurements. A strong emphasis is placed on a safety-first approach, implementing safety measures and guidelines to protect personnel, product, and operations. You will uphold Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) and Product Safety & Environment (PS&E) standards, ensuring adherence to BAE Systems Operational Framework, Life Cycle Management (LCM) practices, Maintenance & Continuing Airworthiness (M&CA) Mandates, Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), and Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) Logistics Management Regulations (LMR) to meet contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities include enhancing customer satisfaction by supporting maintenance, airworthiness, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will be expected to develop new processes and procedures to improve customer experience and contribute to the overall growth of the maintenance organization. Driving business excellence through a culture of Continuous Improvement (CI) and encouraging innovative ideas are also integral to this role, with a focus on applying best industry practices to enhance efficiency and create a sustainable future.

Key Accountabilities and Oversight

You will be accountable to your Primary Line Manager, with direct access to a Secondary Line Manager for independent issue resolution within the Parachute Fabrications shop. This includes reviewing maintenance practices, challenging current methods, and identifying areas for improvement. Recognizing and reporting any malpractice that could affect airworthiness or safety is critical. You will ensure the availability of necessary facilities and resources in accordance with company policies and monitor personnel standards to identify negative trends or motivational deficiencies.

Accountability extends to personnel development reports within your area of responsibility. You are responsible for providing a working environment of trust, where employees understand acceptable behavior and adhere to the company’s “Code of Conduct.” This includes providing training, consolidation, and counterpart development activities for RSAF and BAE Systems personnel. Ensuring tasks are completed within designated timeframes to support Forward Maintenance and SMU activities is also a key accountability. You will maintain operational readiness of shop equipment, ensure correct tooling and approved data are available, and raise appropriate media for deficiencies. Reporting and monitoring equipment or infrastructure damage, ensuring all maintenance personnel are authorized, and maintaining an anti-FOD surveillance program are also essential duties. You will ensure all maintenance tasks meet the highest quality standards, conduct oversight checks for shop husbandry, and escalate any forecasted planning or delivery issues promptly. Holding 2nd Signature authority and maintaining competency currency for Martin Baker Parachute Fabrications pack authorizations are required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a recognized qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or a suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA. Extensive proven post-qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment, supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training, or substantial proven experience on the same aircraft type is required. Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to supervise all levels of engineering personnel are essential. The successful candidate, whether Saudi or Expatriate, must obtain Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level prior to commencing employment and maintain it throughout their tenure in this role.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of company processes and procedures.
  • Broad aerospace and defence company / industry knowledge.
  • Proven supervisory experience within the area of parachute fabrication.
  • An understanding of RAF and /or RSAF engineering operating procedures.
  • A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
  • Previous experience of delivering workplace training.
  • An understanding of ESS or similar electronic based reporting systems.
  • Martin Baker Qualification.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position based in Taif, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within a maintenance organization focused on supporting Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft, with specific responsibilities for the Parachute Fabrications Shop.
