About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a Baker-Lead to join their team in Medina. This full-time position involves overseeing the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring adherence to quality standards and food safety protocols. The role requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare breads and pastries, including doughs, fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating.
Review production sheets to determine daily baked goods requirements.
Cook and prepare food items according to established recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
Maintain kitchen logs to ensure compliance with food safety programs.
Inform the Chef about excess food items for daily special planning.
Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances.
Ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene.
Monitor and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management.
Oversee the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.

Leadership and Team Support

Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating employees.
Serve as a role model and mentor within the department.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, supporting team goals.
Handle sensitive issues with tact, respect, and confidentiality.

Workplace Standards and Safety

Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security guidelines.
Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
Complete all required safety training and certifications.
Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
Protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
Communicate professionally and clearly with others, including appropriate telephone etiquette.
Comply with all quality expectations and standards.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Capability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
