About the Role of Chairman, Surgery

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center is seeking a highly qualified Chairman, Surgery to lead its Surgery Department. This full-time position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and plays a pivotal role in upholding the hospital's mission and objectives.

Role Overview

The Chairman of Surgery is responsible for providing strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight to the Surgery Department. This role ensures that all departmental activities align with the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center. The position combines significant administrative responsibilities with active clinical duties as a Consultant.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Surgery Department in accordance with the Hospital’s established vision, mission, goals, and objectives.
• Oversee all administrative activities of the department, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to institutional standards.
• Perform clinical duties as a Consultant, contributing directly to patient care and surgical excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education:
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of the required period of training.
  • Specialty and sub-specialty with Board certification.
  • Membership or fellowship status in the United Kingdom, Canada, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Sub-specialty training and certification, if applicable.
• Clinical Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of independent clinical experience post-training (after residency and fellowship, if applicable, and following board certification or equivalent).
• Administrative Experience: A minimum of five (5) years in a senior leadership position such as Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Head of Section, Head of Medical Service, or a similar administrative role.

Research and Academic Requirements

• Research and Publications: Must include original articles published in peer-reviewed journals (*, cited in Index Medicus). A minimum of ten (10) original papers is required, with the exact number subject to specialty and committee discretion.
• Academic and Teaching Background: An essential requirement, with an academic appointment in a reputable university being preferable.
