About Salla and the Role

Salla is seeking a Catalogue / Merchandising Consultant to join our team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to enhancing how Salla merchants manage their product data, taxonomy, and digital content. The consultant will be responsible for developing catalogue systems that are both structured and user-friendly for our diverse merchant base.

Role Purpose

This role is critical in shaping the fundamental architecture of product information within the Salla platform. The Catalogue / Merchandising Consultant will redefine how product data is created, categorized, and enriched, directly impacting merchant efficiency and product discoverability across various channels.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Redefining product data structures to support thousands of SKUs across multiple categories, evaluating current merchant practices for creation, categorization, and enrichment.
  • Defining and maintaining taxonomy, metadata, and data governance frameworks to support multi-language catalogues (Arabic/English) and multiple markets (GCC, International).
  • Collaborating with product, engineering, and UX teams on areas such as Imports, Checkout, and Discovery to enhance product import flows, attribute management, and localization logic.
  • Designing adaptive attribute and classification templates and product schemas tailored to specific merchant types (*, fashion, beauty, electronics), ensuring relevance for each category.
  • Establishing standards for product data completeness, consistency, and SEO alignment to improve discoverability across store search, marketplaces, and external channels.
  • Leading PIM/MDM implementations, including system testing, integration, and data validation for catalogue synchronizations, bulk imports, and migration workflows from other platforms.
  • Improving product discovery by defining which product attributes function as filters and analyzing their impact on conversion, relevance, and recommendation quality.
  • Supporting the design and development of new catalogue management tools, AI enrichment features, and merchant onboarding experiences for product setup.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of proven experience managing large-scale product data, demonstrating comfort with tens or hundreds of thousands of SKUs.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure data normalization, manage bulk imports, and maintain catalogue consistency across multi-channel retail environments.
  • Omnichannel and retail experience, including collaboration with or direct experience within retailers operating both online and offline.
  • Understanding of how to align digital catalogue data with POS systems, ERP integrations, and in-store inventory synchronization.

Preferred Background

A preferred background includes experience with online marketplaces, large retail eCommerce operations, or SaaS product catalog systems.
