About the Design Operations Lead Role

Salla is seeking a Design Operations Lead to join our team in Makkah Province. This role is responsible for establishing clarity, consistency, and collaboration within Salla's design processes. The Design Operations Lead will work across various squads to align workflows, facilitate communication between designers and UX writers, and ensure efficient handoffs to engineering, enabling the design organization to scale effectively.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive audit of current design workflows across squads to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
• Develop and maintain a multi-quarter DesignOps roadmap aligned with product and design objectives to support scalable growth.
• Establish shared design process frameworks, including review protocols, documentation standards, and collaborative rituals.
• Collaborate with HR and Design Leadership on capacity planning, onboarding processes, and team health initiatives.
• Integrate UX writers more closely into the design lifecycle to ensure consistent tone and reduce rework.
• Partner with engineering to enhance design-to-development handoffs, QA processes, and overall delivery quality.
• Govern and operationalize the design system lifecycle, including versioning, adoption tracking, and cross-platform alignment.
• Standardize design tools and practices across teams, covering aspects like Figma branching, file structure, component governance, and version control.
• Create dashboards and reports to monitor design velocity, delivery health, process efficiency, and quality metrics.
• Define and track measurable design KPIs, such as delivery velocity, rework rate, design quality, and team satisfaction.
• Foster a strong design culture through rituals, knowledge sharing, internal documentation, and cross-squad alignment.
• Act as a central point of communication between design, product, and engineering to ensure clarity on timelines and expectations.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in DesignOps, Product Design, or similar operational design roles.
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining scalable design systems and workflows.
• Proficiency with design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Jira, Confluence, or Notion.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, product, and content.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills to drive consensus and clarity across teams.
• Ability to define and measure success metrics for design operations.
• A structured and empathetic leadership approach that balances people, process, and outcomes.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English is required.
