The Apparel Design Specialist Role

MUAF is seeking an Apparel Design Specialist to join its team in Al Kharj, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time, on-site position. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving garments from concept through production. This involves creating technical drawings, developing patterns, preparing technical specifications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet design, quality, and manufacturing requirements. The specialist will work closely with pattern makers, sample technicians, production, and quality teams to optimize garment fit, functionality, manufacturability, and overall product performance while ensuring compliance with customer and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop military uniforms, tactical garments, and civilian apparel in line with customer and company requirements.
  • Create technical sketches, specifications, and technical documentation (Tech Packs) for production.
  • Develop and modify garment patterns using CAD software.
  • Perform manual and computerized pattern grading while maintaining design accuracy and garment proportions across all sizes.
  • Prepare garment measurement charts and size specifications based on patterns and approved samples.
  • Review, evaluate, and modify garment patterns to improve fit, comfort, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • Coordinate sample development and work closely with production teams to ensure accurate execution of designs.
  • Provide technical support during sample development and bulk production, resolving pattern and fit-related issues.
  • Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and product development teams to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Apply sound knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, and manufacturing processes throughout product development.
  • Maintain accurate design records, technical documentation, and revision history.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications for reporting, documentation, and project coordination.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have 0-1 years of experience in apparel design or a related field. This role requires proficiency in CAD software for pattern development and grading, along with a strong understanding of garment construction, sewing techniques, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications for documentation and project coordination is also essential.
