About the Role

Marriott International is seeking an Assistant Manager - Engineering to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves assisting in the management of all engineering and maintenance operations, with a focus on ensuring safety, security, and asset protection for the building, grounds, and physical plant. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with managing the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with facility regulations and safety standards.
• Manage and control heat, light, and power, recommending methods for energy conservation and economical facility operations.
• Assist in developing specifications for service contracts and administer these contracts to support building needs.
• Distribute preventive maintenance and repair work orders, monitoring timeliness and quality of completion.
• Oversee the maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public spaces, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational facilities.
• Assist in developing and overseeing the execution of long-term plans for preventative maintenance and asset protection.
• Coordinate with contractors for bids and construction to ensure timely completion of projects within budgetary guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with external customers, including city building/zoning departments, fire prevention bureaus, and vendors.
• Perform monthly property inspections to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition.
• Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine required work.
• Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
• Select, order, or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
• Manage parts and equipment inventory.

Property Standards and Compliance

The Assistant Manager - Engineering will ensure that all building and equipment licenses and certifications are current. This includes maintaining property life safety systems such as fire fighting equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarm systems. The role also involves assisting with managing the budget and capital expenditure projects.

Emergency Response Leadership

This position assists with leading the emergency response team for all facility issues. This includes ensuring the fire crew has a complete understanding of all procedures, equipment, and alarms to effectively manage emergency situations.

Guest Satisfaction and Service Improvement

The role requires displaying leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service, and fostering a positive atmosphere for guest relations. This involves conducting guest room and common area inspections to ensure guest satisfaction, reviewing comment cards and guest satisfaction results to identify areas for improvement, and sharing plans with property leadership to ensure corrective action is taken to continuously enhance guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in engineering or maintenance operations.
• Demonstrated ability to assist with managing budgets and capital expenditure projects.
• Understanding of preventative maintenance and energy conservation practices.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to facility operations and safety standards.
• Strong leadership skills with a focus on customer service.
