Business Development Engineer

About the Role

DAR Engineering, a leading design and engineering consulting organization in Saudi Arabia, is seeking an experienced Business Development Engineer. This full-time role, based in Riyadh, is dedicated to strengthening DAR Engineering's Business Development team with a focused approach on the Power and Energy sector. The position requires 5-10 years of experience.

Role Purpose and Context

The Business Development Engineer will be an electrical engineering professional with a strong consulting and engineering background. This role involves identifying and securing new business opportunities across power generation, transmission and distribution (T&D), and substation projects. The successful candidate will build long-term relationships with developers and contractors in the Saudi market, combining technical credibility in the power/energy domain with commercial acumen. The role acts as a bridge between DAR Engineering's capabilities and client needs throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the Power and Energy sector in Saudi Arabia, including power generation, T&D, and substation projects.
• Develop and execute a focused business development strategy targeting developers and contractors in the power/energy market.
• Build and maintain relationships with key developers, EPC contractors, utilities (*, SEC, NGC), and other strategic stakeholders in the energy sector.
• Monitor market trends, upcoming tenders, giga/mega-project pipelines (*, Vision 2030-linked initiatives), and competitor activity within the Power & Energy space.
• Lead client engagement throughout the pursuit lifecycle, from initial approach and capability presentations to proposal submission and contract negotiation.
• Collaborate with DAR Engineering's technical, design, and engineering teams to ensure proposals accurately reflect project scope, technical approach, and value proposition.
• Support the positioning of DAR Engineering across all project stages relevant to power and energy infrastructure, from planning and concept design through detailed design and construction supervision.
• Represent DAR Engineering at industry events, energy sector conferences, and client meetings to strengthen brand visibility.
• Coordinate with the Bid & Tendering, Marketing, and Technical departments to develop client-focused proposals.
• Track and report on the Power & Energy business development pipeline, win rates, and revenue targets to senior management.
• Provide market intelligence and client feedback specific to the power/energy sector to support strategic decision-making and service offering development.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in business development within the power and energy sector.
• Professional background in electrical engineering with a strong consulting or engineering focus.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and secure new business opportunities.
• Strong commercial acumen combined with technical credibility in the power/energy domain.
