CLINICAL PERFUSIONIST

About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Clinical Perfusionist. This full-time role involves the setup and operation of extracorporeal circulation equipment to support patients during surgery or respiratory failure. The Clinical Perfusionist will also provide various perfusion services to the Heart Centre at the Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Review patient medical history to gather necessary information for cardiopulmonary bypass machine setup.
• Select, assemble, set up, and test cardiopulmonary bypass machines and associated equipment to ensure functional specifications are met.
• Operate cardiopulmonary bypass machines to maintain blood circulation, administer drugs and anesthetic agents, and control body temperature during surgery or respiratory failure.
• Monitor the operation of cardiopulmonary bypass machines and patient physiological variables, including blood temperature, composition, and flow rate, adjusting equipment as needed and troubleshooting related perfusion technology.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of heart/lung machines and ancillary perfusion services equipment.
• Provide extracorporeal long-term life support for adult and pediatric surgical/medical patients, including operation, management, and troubleshooting of related technology.
• Provide Assist Devices to surgical/medical patients, including operation, management, and troubleshooting of related technology.
• Perform intraoperative autotransfusion techniques by setting up, operating, and monitoring cell saver equipment for cardiac patients.
• Provide intra-aortic balloon counter pulsation support technology to medical and surgical patients.
• Offer perfusion services support to Organ Transplant Programs and other designated Hospital programs.
• Collect, organize, and manage patient databases, including statistics for patient outcomes relevant to Perfusion Services (PS).
• Manage all emergent/urgent situations relevant to Perfusion Services.
• Adhere to all Hospital policies and procedures.
• Participate in personal and peer education, training, and development.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications
