About the Role: Data Governance Expert

Wareef is seeking a Data Governance Expert to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience and focuses on establishing and maintaining robust data governance frameworks in compliance with national standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead compliance efforts with National Data Management Office (NDMO) policies, including data sharing, classification, and personal data protection.
  • Design and develop an integrated data governance framework, defining roles such as Data Owners and Data Stewards, and their responsibilities.
  • Oversee data classification processes (*, highly confidential, confidential, restricted, public) in accordance with national standards to ensure appropriate protection controls.
  • Develop data quality standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all systems.
  • Build and maintain a unified Data Dictionary that defines technical and administrative terms to ensure a common language between business and technical sectors.
  • Manage data exchange processes with external and internal entities in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and national regulatory controls.
  • Conduct training workshops and awareness sessions for employees on the importance of data governance and compliance with regulations and legislation.

Technical Skills and Capabilities

  • NDMO Regulations Expertise: Deep and detailed knowledge of all policies and standards issued by the National Data Management Office (NDMO) and their practical implementation.
  • Data Governance Tools Proficiency: Experience with data management tools (Data Cataloging, Metadata Management, Data Lineage).
  • Analytical Skills: High proficiency in Data Flow Mapping and identifying governance weaknesses.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify Data Risks and develop mitigation and compliance plans.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in data governance, with proven experience in implementing NDMO standards within Saudi government or semi-government entities.
  • Professional Certifications (Advantageous): Certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or certifications in risk management and compliance are preferred.
