About the Role

Hudson IT and Manpower is seeking a Power Transformer Electrical Design Engineer for a contract position in Saudi Arabia. This role involves the comprehensive electrical design of power transformers, requiring a strong understanding of design principles and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Power Transformer Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end electrical design of power transformers up to 50 MVA and 132 kV class. This includes:

• Performing electrical design calculations.
• Preparing Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Developing and preparing technical submittals for customers.
• Reviewing and verifying manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Coordinating effectively with internal departments including Sales, Purchase, Production, and QA.
• Liaising with suppliers and customers to ensure project requirements are met.
• Ensuring all designs comply with relevant IEC and ANSI standards.

Technical Expertise Required

Candidates must possess practical experience in the following areas:

• Disc winding, Foil winding, and CTC conductors.
• Design of Hermetically sealed and conservator type transformers.
• Integration and design considerations for On Load Tap Changers (OLTC).

A strong theoretical understanding and practical application knowledge are required for:

• Short circuit calculations.
• Cooling calculations.
• Impulse and loading calculations.

Furthermore, a solid grasp of transformer insulation principles, thermal design aspects, and performance optimization techniques is essential.

Tools and Software Proficiency

Proficiency with transformer design software such as DesDT or iTRACS, or equivalent, is required. Familiarity with MS Windows and MS Office suite is also necessary for daily operations.

Standards and Compliance Knowledge

A working knowledge of international standards including IEC and ANSI is mandatory. Additionally, awareness of:

• ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Industrial safety practices.

Required Soft Skills

The role requires strong communication and coordination skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders. The ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams is crucial.
