About the Opportunity

National Medical Care is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is designed for individuals with 0-1 years of experience who are committed to supporting pharmacists in medication dispensing and patient record management within a hospital and clinic setting.

Role Overview

The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of pharmaceutical services. This position involves direct support to pharmacists, focusing on dispensing processes, maintaining organized work environments, and contributing to patient education initiatives to uphold a superior standard of medical care and patient understanding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the delivery of superior quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding to all patients served at NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Complete pharmacy dispensing functions by checking prescriptions with correct, pharmacist-confirmed labeling, promptly for Inpatient, * Admixture, and Outpatient services.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-stocked work area for unit dose and * Admixture preparations.
  • Oversee the complete and proper labeling of medications within the centralized * Admixture Program, including aseptically prepared TPN solutions, injectable chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other * therapy medications, under direct pharmacist supervision.
  • Manage the effective delivery of floor stock medications to and from Inpatient units.
  • Prepare 24-hour card-fillers as required.
  • Record daily dispensed medications, maintain accurate records, and inform the Pharmacist of expiring drugs in accordance with department policy.
  • Educate patients and families based on their needs, implementing the patient/family education process as outlined in policy and procedure (NSP-GEN-014), including documentation in patient medical records.
  • Involve patients and families in their plan of care, respecting their goals and choices regarding patient care.
  • Provide health promotion and teaching using methods appropriate to each patient’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, culture, and specific situations.
  • Allocate necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education provided to patients and families, ensuring appropriate documentation.
  • Comply with the hospital dress code at all times.
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of the employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the essential role in patient and family education.
  • Ability to perform tasks and duties effectively within the realm of assigned responsibilities.
