About the Registrar - Orthopedics Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Registrar in Orthopedics to provide high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic services in Riyadh. This full-time position involves assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. The role operates under the supervision of a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon and requires 2-5 years of experience. Services will be delivered across both in-person clinic and virtual consultation settings, utilizing digital health platforms and EMR systems to ensure continuity of care.

Clinical Responsibilities

The Registrar will conduct comprehensive orthopedic assessments, reviewing medical history, symptoms, and imaging. This includes recommending and coordinating diagnostic investigations and specialist referrals. A key responsibility is developing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans suitable for both virtual and in-person delivery. This involves prescribing medications, recommending non-pharmacological interventions, and triaging patient cases to determine the appropriate care pathway. Structured follow-up care, monitoring patient adherence and recovery, and escalating complex cases to the Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon or multidisciplinary teams are also integral to this role.

Quality, Safety, and Collaboration

Ensuring compliance with clinical governance and patient safety standards across all care settings is paramount. This includes maintaining accurate and timely EMR documentation for all patient interactions, both virtual and in-person. The Registrar will participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and departmental meetings, reporting and managing clinical incidents appropriately. Collaboration with healthcare teams across different service channels is essential for seamless coordination of referrals, investigations, and continuity of care. Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings and supporting patient transitions between virtual and in-clinic care are also key aspects of the role.

Patient Experience and Education

Providing empathetic, patient-centered orthopedic care with clarity and professionalism in both virtual and in-person settings is a core function. The Registrar will educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, rehabilitation, and home-based exercises, ensuring information is accessible for remote delivery. Clear guidance will be provided to patients on when to attend in-clinic appointments versus when virtual follow-up is appropriate. Supporting service excellence initiatives and responding to patient feedback for continuous improvement are also expected.

Professional Development

The role involves participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities. The Registrar will also mentor junior physicians, support clinical governance activities, and contribute to departmental strategic initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
